Waco, Texas: Magnolia Dreams & Dr Pepper Things

Waco, Texas — home of Fixer Upper fame, shiplap dreams, and more aesthetic neutrals than my Pinterest board can handle. Naturally, I had to visit the Magnolia Complex, aka the HGTV mecca that Chip and Joanna Gaines built out of silos and pure farmhouse magic.

The vibe? Think rustic chic meets curated chaos.
There’s a bakery (yes, I definitely ate a cupcake), a market full of things I didn’t know I needed until I saw them styled next to a wooden ladder, and plenty of places to sit, sip, and wonder how your life would be different if you owned a linen apron and antique milk jug.

I spent more time than I would like to admit smelling every candle scent and sitting on every piece of furniture. In the end, I only left with a souvenir magnet. My bank account thanks me for this.

The complex itself is adorable. Lots of tiny shops that aren’t Magnolia branded as well. A bunch of food trucks, coffee shops and lots of room for the littles to run around. Great area for local events I’m sure.

🥤 A Little Side Sip: Dr Pepper Museum

Just down the road? The Dr Pepper Museum — because Waco is also the birthplace of America’s oldest major soft drink, and that absolutely deserves a visit. You can tour the old bottling plant, see vintage ads, and even mix your own soda. If you weren’t a Pepper before, you will be now. As an avid Diet Dr. Pepper fan, this was a must stop.

Final Thoughts

Waco may be small, but it’s packed with charm — from shiplap to soda history. Whether you’re a hardcore Gaines fan or just looking for a good cupcake and a quirky day trip, this little Texas town delivers.

Would I go back? In a heartbeat.
But next time, I’m bringing a bigger suitcase and less self-control in the market.
